One Visit Crowns Q & A

What are CEREC same-day crowns?

CEREC is a cutting-edge dental restoration system that enables the team at Today’s Dentistry to manufacture crowns, dental veneers, and fillings on site.

Also known as chairside crowns, CEREC crowns are incredibly sturdy and eradicate the need for temporary crowns or multiple appointments.

How does CEREC treatment work?

A CEREC procedure begins with your Today’s Dentistry provider performing an oral exam to determine the correct type of treatment.

If you have one or more teeth with damage or decay, and a filling or crown can correct the issue, CEREC can help restore your tooth. Before moving forward, your dentist administers a local anesthetic to numb your teeth and gums.

After the anesthesia sets in, your dentist takes an optical impression of your tooth. Your provider coats your affected tooth in a non-toxic, tasteless powder and uses a digital camera to take an impression.

Your provider uploads your digital impression into the CEREC system, which uses 3D software to create a model of your tooth.

The CEREC system uses this model to create an all-ceramic, natural-looking tooth restoration that your Today’s Dentistry provider bonds in place. Usually, the entire process takes between 60-90 minutes.

Am I a good candidate for CEREC?

Anyone who has cracked, chipped, or otherwise damaged teeth can benefit from a CEREC procedure. The team at Today’s Dentistry regularly uses the CEREC system to manufacture:

  • Veneers
  • Crowns
  • Inlay restorations
  • Onlay restorations

The CEREC system is also capable of manufacturing crowns for dental implants.

What are the benefits of CEREC crowns?

CEREC crowns present an array of benefits. For one, they save you time. Your dentist manufactures and applies your CEREC crown during one appointment, so there’s no waiting period or scheduling conflicts to worry about. Once your appointment is over, you leave the office with a new crown.

Second, CEREC crowns are cheaper than traditional crowns. You also don’t have to take multiple days off of work, and CEREC crowns are comfortable. The digital impression process means there’s no putty or gooey impression pastes.
