Invisalign Q & A

What are Invisalign aligners?

Invisalign® treatment is the process of wearing a series of clear, oral aligners that fit snugly over the surface of your teeth. Over time, the aligners gradually straighten your teeth, without the use of traditional tools like brackets, wires, and rubber bands.

Invisalign aligners are both safe and effective. They’re made of a thermoplastic known as SmartTrack®, which is FDA-approved and contains no BPS, BPA, latex, or gluten.

What types of issues can Invisalign correct?

Invisalign treatment is incredibly versatile. The team at Today’s Dentistry regularly uses Invisalign aligners to treat:

  • Crooked teeth
  • Overbite
  • Underbite
  • Crossbite
  • Crowded teeth
  • Open bite

Your provider might also recommend Invisalign treatment if you have gaps or spaces between one or multiple teeth.

What is the process for Invisalign treatment?

Invisalign treatment begins with a consultation at Today’s Dentistry. First, your provider performs an oral exam, reviews your medical history, and asks about your aesthetic goals for treatment.

Next, your Today’s Dentistry provider evaluates your smile and maps out a precise digital treatment plan using specialized software. Your provider sends scans of your mouth to a laboratory that manufactures your first set of aligners.

About a week after your first appointment, you return to Today’s Dentistry for your fitting. If your Invisalign aligners fit properly, your provider gives you a list of instructions and sends you on your way. To achieve the best results, it’s important that you wear your aligners between 20-22 hours every day.

Every two to three weeks, you return to Today’s Dentistry to change into a new set of aligners. Each set of aligners gradually shifts your teeth into place, according to your treatment plan.

The length of Invisalign treatment varies from patient to patient, but most people achieve the smile of their dreams in between 18-22 months.

How do I keep my aligners clean?

Caring for your Invisalign aligners is easy and hassle-free. Rinse them off in cool water after eating a meal, and brush them gently with your toothbrush at least once every day. For more thorough cleanings, ask your Today’s Dentistry provider about the Invisalign cleaning system.

Thanks to Invisalign aligners, achieving a straight, beautiful smile without braces isn’t just possible, it’s easy. Make an appointment at Today’s Dentistry today by calling or clicking the online booking tool.
